Horse Races - A favorite activity of the club are the horse races.  After the short business meeting on August 13, 2025, the club was off to the races.  Due to the popularity of the event there were seventeen races, and six thoroughbred paper horses ran in each race (pictured in the last page of the photographs below) Carol Canepa and Lucy Coronado ran the betting window as eager bettors placed their $5.00 wagers.  At each race, Sarah Lambrose ran the starting gate and put the horses in post position.  After Mike Caporale sounded “Call to the Post”, the race was on.  Players threw two dice, one red (the horse) and one white (the number of furlongs the horse could advance).  As with any race, excitement grew when the horses reached the stretch.  At the conclusion, Win received $15.00, Place received $10.00, and Show received $5.00. 

 At the August 13, Business Meeting, Club members brought recyclables to the Secret Garden and Judi Curcio repackaged everything into either red trash bags (beer cans and bottles) or black trash bags (all other containers).  The Club made its second delivery to the high school the next day.  With the school back in session, three Key Club members gladly unloaded the multiple bags of empty containers from Madeleine Jacquot’s SUV and put them in the campus storage shed.  The next collection date is at the business meeting on September 10, 2025.
